What is a dental implant? |
A long term solution for replacing a missing tooth. A titanium implant body will be placed in your jaw bone. After 5-6 months, bone-to-implant contact will be maximized and ready for implant restoration. An impression will be taken and sent to lab for implant crown fabrication.
In addition, denture patients can also benefit from dental implants since complete denture can be attached to dental implant for better stability.
|
What is Implant Supported Overdenture? |
It is a removable complete denture combined with dental implants designed to improve denture stability especially on the lower arch. Up to four dental implants will be placed per arch depending on your bone anatomy.
|
Does it hurt? |
Bone does not have nerves, therefore it does not hurt. However, you may feel some discomfort from your gums after the procedure.
|
Do I need bone graft, membrane, etc? |
At the consultation visit, Dr. Nguyen will evaluate your 3D xray to determine if you need bone graft and membrane.
|
What are implant abutment and implant crown? |
Implant abutment is a connecting piece that join the implant crown to the implant body.
Implant crown is the final step of the dental implant placement process. This crown rests on the abutment of the dental implant (a connecting piece) to look and function just like a regular crown.
